Eliza K. Paschall papers, 1860-1990.

The collection consists of the papers of Eliza K. Paschall from 1860-1990. The papers include professional files, subject files, personal and family papers, printed material, photographs and audiovisual material. Professional files contain correspondence, reports, meeting minutes and subject files relating to Paschall's work with the human relations commissions in Atlanta, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Reagan Administration and the United States Information Service Ampart Program. Subject files contain reference material for a variety of causes and organizations with which Paschall was involved, especially the Equal Rights Amendment, the National Organization for Women, the Georgia Commission on the Status of Women, and International Women's Year. Personal and family papers include Paschall's correspondence, scrapbooks and other personal effects, as well as the writings of Paschall's husband Walter, a prominent Atlanta journalist. Eliza Paschall's writings contain essays and book-length works on feminism, civil rights and personal concerns, as well as creative works and a diary of her experiences in the American Red Cross Clubmobile. Printed material consists of articles written by and about Paschall. Photographs include portraits and photographs of Paschall with family members and others. Audiovisual material consists of an audio cassette of anti-ERA advertisements recorded in Florida.

Eliza King Paschall, author and activist, was born October 5, 1917, in Adams Run (Charleston County), South Carolina. During World War II, Paschall served with the American Red Cross Clubmobile, mobile units of volunteers providing refreshments and recreation to Allied soldiers across Europe. She married Walter Goode Paschall (1910-1959), a prominent Atlanta journalist, in 1945.
